Students in this fully-online M.Ed. program will take an 18-hour core, which will provide them with the knowledge and skills to better serve the needs of the diverse EC-12 student population in Texas. Beyond the core, students will choose one of three tracks (see details below) in which to specialize and will be able to choose six hours of electives from inside or outside the College of Education to expand their knowledge further.
In addition, the M.Ed. provides teachers who are currently employed in a school district the opportunity to pursue advancement in their district and professional training in the three tracks offered as part of the new degree. The three tracks are:
Gifted and Talented
Most districts have coordinators of ESL, Technology, and GT. These specific training tracks will qualify teachers to be a campus coordinator in those areas.
